Amin Salam
Vice President, Business Development

National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce

Amin G. Salam is the Vice President of Business Development & Strategy for the National U.S. Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC).   Prior to joining the Chamber of Commerce, Salam served as an International lawyer at the offices of Shearman & Sterling LLP a top tier New York based global law firm, where he started his career as a international corporate lawyer. 

In his capacity as a business and policy specialist, Salam focuses on emerging markets with focus on the Middle East and North Africa region.  Salam has an extensive track record of managing business operations, dealing with global corporations and foreign governments providing professional expertise in mergers & acquisitions, project financing, foreign direct investment, import- export, market access strategy, trade development, joint ventures, and building strategic alliances. In addition he conducts seminars for various governments and global corporations on foreign investment, business cultures and trends, international trade and sovereign wealth funds. 

As an advocate for Arab American business and economic relations for over 12 years, Salam Has worked in more than 30 countries and with numerous Fortune 100 companies on issues ranging from investment and business development to professional development of corporate, local, and expatriate staff. Creates and manages marketing and communications strategies for policy advocacy and trade and investment promotion that results in effective messaging, accelerated business development, and increased support for client outcomes. Salam played an instrumental role in the success of many business dialogues and initiatives, as well as great achievements in promoting American Small to Medium size enterprises (SME’s) internationally, and helping them access emerging markets to increase their exports, and expand their presence in the global market.
 
Salam has worked with both the U.S. and the Arab world’s public and private sectors on business issues since 2000, and he is familiar with every facet of the legislative process, business culture, and market trends.  He has consulted for U.S. and Arab leading corporations on numerous issues and has played an active role in many business negotiations to support U.S. – Arab commerce in the past decade.  
   
Salam is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Law (LL.M.) holding a Masters in International & Comparative Law and a Bachelor in Law from University La Sagesse (School of Law and Political Sciences) Beirut - Lebanon.   

Salam was appointed earlier this year by Governor O'Malley of the State of Maryland to serve for a term of four years on the Governor's Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs with a focus on international business development. In that capacity, Salam is working closely with the Governor's office and the Department of Business and Economic Development to strengthen commercial and economic ties between the State of Maryland and the MENA region.
